Barton students Kadin Stinson of Emporia and BrayLynn Anshutz of St. John, both members of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society, have been selected for the PTK All-Kansas Academic Team.
PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges and symbolizes excellence in higher education.听 Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to join PTK. The PTK group at Barton spends significant time sponsoring local events as well as volunteering to support others鈥 events.
The students completed applications, which were reviewed by an anonymous selection panel on their respective campuses. Both students will have a chance at being named to PTK鈥檚 All-USA Academic Team, announced in the next few weeks.
Anshutz is the daughter of Brian and Rhonda Anshutz and is a Physical Education and Health Major. She has been involved in Community Service Organization/SPARK Entrepreneurship, Christian Leadership Organization, the President鈥檚 List and Dean鈥檚 List, and was the recipient of the Student Ambassador 鈥淭he Rock鈥 award last year. She also participated in Barton Cheer and served as a Great Bend Recreation Center Art Assistant. She plans to transfer to Kansas State University to continue her education. She also served as the Vice President of the Barton PTK chapter.
Stinson, the daughter of Deborah Sage and David Stinson, is on the Barton women鈥檚 soccer team and has been on both the Dean鈥檚 List and the President鈥檚 List. She is undecided on her major.
