​​Restocking paper goods at Great Bend Head Start daycare was a cross-town trip before 91����� got involved.

Head Start contacted Matt Mazouch, Barton’s Carpentry Instructor at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility, after seeing an ad for storage sheds. Larned Correctional Facility inmates construct the sheds through Barton’s Building Academic Skills in Correctional Settings (BASICS) carpentry class. The class teaches inmates how to frame a floor, walls, a roof, etc.

91����� will host a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7 ��to celebrate the launch of a completely new and innovative schedule for delivering online courses. BARTonline, the college’s online learning platform, now offers 15 online sessions throughout the year in four, six, eight and 16 week formats, meaning students are no longer confined to traditional semesters.

91����� will offer a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to transitioning Fort Sill Soldiers and family members with Department of Defense ID cards.

The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from June 18-29 at Truman Education Center B3281 on post.

The Barton Theatre Department will hold open auditions for its summer production of the comedy one-acts “The Proposal” and “The Bear” by Anton Chekhov from 4-6 p.m. June 12 and 13 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The Theatre Department is looking to cast four males and four females who are 25-60 year’s old. Those who wish to audition may show up during the allotted hours on either night. No preparation or experience is necessary.

Graduates from 10 colleges of the Fort Riley Education Services Consortium gathered Thursday afternoon to celebrate the end of a chapter in their educational journeys. Despite the spacious venue, a large conference center ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan, it was standing room only. And, the air was electric with the energy from the graduates and their families ready to hear their name and achievement announced from the podium.
