When Director of Nursing Robert Mangold walks into work at The University of Kansas Health Systems Pawnee Valley Campus, he鈥檚 not just trading his time for a paycheck, dealing with the daily grind. He鈥檚 beginning yet another shift in a role that challenges him to be present for others as the best human being he can be, showing care, compassion and empathy mixed with just the right amount of professionalism.

First, it is becoming obvious that for the first time in several years the area is experiencing and 鈥渁ctive鈥 weather pattern.听 Active translates into a more unsettled weather pattern where lows (storms) will tend to track further south and moisture will be brought north from the Gulf of Mexico.听 It will be interesting to see just how 鈥渁ctive鈥 this pattern will be and how much snow/ice comes our way.听 Now onto to today鈥檚 topic.

The Barton Fine and Performing Arts students invite听the community to enjoy nostalgic holiday themed entertainment at its annual Holiday Variety Show at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.听

鈥淭he Holiday Concert is a great way to end the semester with the college students and a great concert for everyone in the community to bring in the holiday spirit,鈥 Director of Instrumental Activities Steven Lueth said.

All ages can get a dose of the holiday spirit at The Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 Holiday Open House from 1-4 p.m.听 Sunday, Dec. 2, which will feature a magic show by Mystic Works Comedic Magician Eric Vaughn at 1:30 p.m. and a puppet show from the Stonelion Puppet Theatre at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.听

91快活林 will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in room F-157, the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel in the Fine Arts Building.听 The recital is free.
Barton music students are an eclectic group made up of traditional college students, area high school students enrolled for college credit and area adults studying for their own enjoyment.
