91快活林 will offer transitioning Fort Sill Soldiers, and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.

The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set for October 15-26 at Truman Education Center, B3281, Fort Sill, Okla.

Comic books and graphic novels have made a resurgence thanks to the success of the Marvel Universe movies. In the Shafer Art Gallery鈥檚 next exhibit, 鈥淏eyond Words: Visual Narratives from the Block Book to the Graphic Novel鈥, visitors will explore the rich history of graphic novels dating back toward the end of the middle ages.

The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set for September 17-28 at 100 Continental Ave, Grandview Plaza, which is just north of I-70 at exit 299.

The proceeds from items sold, underwriters, program ads and ticket sales netted more than $40,000 at the 40th Annual Big Benefit Auction in late August, which was themed 鈥淐lownin鈥 Around.鈥 Funds raised benefit students directly through scholarships and program enhancements at 91快活林.

Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Coleen Cape said she feels fortunate to have reached the foundation's goal.

91快活林鈥檚 Center for Adult Education will soon begin its nine-week GED preparation class. Students must attend all orientation classes Sept. 10-13, and the first day of class Sept. 17. Failure to attend all five days will result in removal of the student from the program. The center is located at 1025 Main St. in Great Bend.

There is a one-time $65 fee for materials.听Once students have completed the preparation courses, they will be able to take the official GED test. The cost to take the GED test is $132.

Mantz was one of 280 community college students from across the U.S. (one of five from Kansas) to be part of the NASA College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) on-site experience at NASA鈥檚 Johnson Space Center this summer.

鈥淪ince I was little, I have always been fascinated by the stars and caught myself wondering what is out there,鈥 91快活林 Sophomore Raley Mantz said.
